My name is Emily, and I’ve been teaching and coaching group exercise classes since 2011. I believe in the power of movement and community, which motivated me to pursue my various fitness certificates! Although working out is part of my daily routine, I did not find my love for exercise until college where I was forced to take two “fitness” classes as part of my college degree: weight training and aerobic dance. After I experienced the positive vibes and natural high from the group exercise classes, I knew I had to make fitness part of my life! My favorite strength exercises are deadlifts, bench pressing, and strict press, and I’ll choose cycling over running any day for cardio.

I’ve been teaching at Driven Fitness for a year, and I LOVE the community of motivated individuals. The small classes allow for more one-on-one coaching, providing individual recommendations on form, and really understanding the motivation for why you — as an individual — work out! My favorite class to teach at Driven is Cyced Up Circuit, as it combines strength exercises and cycling in a circuit-style class (and yes, there will probably be kettlebell swings!).

I often say I have three parts to my life: my fitness journey, my life as a mother and family person, and my full-time career as a researcher and college instructor. I am a parent to four humans and married to an educator. My husband and I enjoy listening to live music and drinking whiskey! I call myself a taxi driver due to all of these humans' activities and commitments! I do not live close to my biological family, but we visit one another often. I appreciate the life and all the opportunities my parents provided for me — especially the push go to college.

Besides my children, I am most proud of earning my PhD as a first-generation, former single mother. My full-time position is with THE Ohio State University, where I manage a mixed-method research project on community college student success and supervise/mentor some amazing doctoral students. I teach graduate classes on college impact, the history of higher education in the USA, and college environments. 

I also live in activewear, but as you can see from some of these photos, I do dress up when forced!

Did you know Driven Fitness Studio now offers dance/fitness classes for individuals with disabilities? We welcome all individuals, ages 13 through adults! Dance, Move & Groove's benefits include: improving muscle tone and strength, developing motor skills and balance, appreciating music and rhythm while using these skills to direct body movement. Come groove with us in the adaptive class as we get fit, have fun and work on developing emotional well-being and social skills in a fun and welcoming environment! We can't wait to see you!




TRX Suspension Training

Pilates

Our instructors are exclusively trained in STOTT PILATES ®, the world leader in the Pilates industry. Respected by fitness and health practitioners worldwide, STOTT PILATES ® mind-body exercise builds on the essence and principals of the late Joseph H. Pilates' work by incorporating modern knowledge about the body.

Yoga

Many people think that yoga is just stretching. But while stretching is certainly involved, yoga is really about creating balance in the body and the mind through developing strength, flexibility and mental clarity. At Driven Fitness, we blend yoga into an individualized fitness routine that will align your body and focus your mind.

* As a courtesy to the studio, please give at least a (12) hour notice when cancelling GROUP X classes and at least a (24) hour notice when cancelling reformer, private or personal training sessions.  You will be charged for the class if cancelling within this window.  Clients that have Platinum or Unlimited passes will have the fee charged to their credit card on file.  There are often clients on a waitlist, so this will also allow them to prepare to attend if you are cancelling out. 

We know unforeseen emergencies can arise, just discuss with your instructor in that situation.  Thank you for understanding. We take pride in programming each class and session to the specific individuals in that class or session and appreciate your understanding.
